Recognize American Heart Month with a Trip to the Rink!

It’s no secret that February is the time we celebrate love. But all those heart-shaped stickers, cookies, balloons, and more also celebrate another important time: American Heart Month! Through the month, the staff at all three Rollhaven locations are working on new habits to strengthen and protect our hearts, like these:

  • Being Physically Active. Since most kids, and even more adults, don’t get the amount of daily exercise they need, we’re committing to find ways to increase our activity. Roller skating is a great way to keep active! It’s comparable to jogging in terms of cardio health, and is easier on your joints, so your knees will thank you. You’ll have so much fun you won’t even notice you’re getting a workout!
  • Eating Better. Look for foods high in fiber and low in saturated fats, like nuts, berries, and leafy green vegetables. Fish is also a heat-healthy alternative to red meat, and it’s hard to go wrong with whole grains.
  • Managing Stress. Stress is bad for your whole body, not just your heart and your mood. Spend some time enjoying yourself with friends and family at any of our Rollhaven locations. Between the music, the fun, and the endorphin rush of exercise, you’ll feel your stress melting away! Why not make skating a part of your Valentine’s Day plans?

Heart disease, including stroke, causes more than 17 million deaths every year, but that doesn’t have to be true! If you take care of your heart, it will take care of you. Join us in February to celebrate American Heart Month at Rollhaven!
